Presentation
My name is Christian Vrient and I am a humanist-oriented therapist. My approach, focused on active listening and underpinned by IFS, non-violent communication and transactional analysis, is based on trust, respect, empathy and authenticity, the key words that characterize the person-centered approach (PCA) of Carl Rogers. My experience in the world of multinationals has naturally led me to also work in companies and to specialize in the treatment of burnout.
As a therapist, I am convinced that human beings have a strong potential for growth and fulfillment, a strong capacity to bounce back and to find solutions within themselves. These innate qualities develop on their own, provided the person benefits from a favorable context. The aim of therapy is therefore to restart a spontaneous process and to rediscover parts of ourselves, qualities that were not nurtured in our childhood by certain life qualities of those close to us, and which were thereby hindered.
Coming from the business world, I managed teams first in the printing industry and then in security. I met people from all social backgrounds with specific expectations and needs. I faced my own personal limits, and my research and my desire to grow led me to find stress-management methods and to begin personal work, a sine qua non condition for becoming a therapist. I first turned to manual therapy and then moved toward verbal support relationships.
Having discovered the limits of touch as a way to reconnect with one’s inner self, one’s “self,” I decided to take a further step towards myself and towards others, to help them regain their balance and (re)find themselves, by quite naturally turning to psychotherapy.
In addition to personal therapy, my approach turned towards the study of the psyche and the connection between touch and psyche, body and mind. I was trained in listening within helping relationships and in psychotherapy at the Therapeutia school (3-year program), as well as in psychopathology (1 year) and pharmacology. This training is part of the Humanistic movement.
It derives its specificity from a solid classical foundation (PCA Person-Centred Approach by Carl Rogers), coupled with hypnosis and the latest discoveries in neuroscience and the tools of Energy Psychology (this current includes techniques that act on the psyche through the body’s energetic field, including EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Remap) but also IFS (Internal Family System).
This comprehensive approach makes it possible to treat psychological disorders, traumas, complex traumas, wounds from the past, addictions and phobias at the level of their emotional roots and belief systems, and to free the brain from these traumatic memories. I have specialized in the treatment of burnout by training in IFTS and IPBO for one year.
Each person has a capacity for growth and is shaped by their experiences. Above all, it is about creating a relationship of trust, a therapeutic alliance, where all subjects can be discussed with complete transparency. I am here to listen to you, without judgment, combining empathy and authenticity to allow you to meet yourself, at your own pace and without forcing anything.
