Presentation

Hello, I am Sarah Tannier, I am a Psychologist and Psychotherapist for adults and adolescents. Individual therapy.
  • Master’s degree in psychology from UCL;
  • Complementary Master’s degree in psychotherapy from UCL;
  • Coaching;
  • Ongoing training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Through this master’s degree I have mainly specialized in therapies that aim at a new way of living with our emotions. Sometimes we would like to stop thinking, but this is precisely our condition as human beings. I offer you an innovative approach that assumes that even when we experience the most painful emotions, there are opportunities to find meaning and to regain a life full of meaning.
My sessions are dynamic. They are not sessions where we speak into the void. I guide the reflection, I share my impressions. Together we set out in search of solutions for greater well-being or for an acceptance of our experiences and thoughts, while respecting each person’s pace and personality.
I draw a great deal of inspiration from positive psychology in my therapeutic work. This does not mean idealizing the world or denying psychological suffering (quite the opposite), but rather learning to see beyond this suffering. Psychological distress imprisons most of us, and the goal of therapy will be to increase psychological flexibility in order to encourage engagement in actions that contribute to building a rich and meaningful existence.
The therapies I offer therefore aim to teach a new way of living with our past suffering or our future anxieties. They defuse the excessive influence of our emotions on our behaviors by showing us that we do not have to believe everything we think (e.g. panic attacks).
In summary, if we suffer, feel anguish, and worry, it is because life has meaning, and rather than lingering too long on our dysfunctions, we will find and reconnect with what is truly important for each of us!
The goal is to move forward in the direction of our values (which our thoughts and emotions very often prevent us from doing).
These therapies are similar to coaching.
Accept what cannot be changed and commit to what can be.
The sessions last 50 minutes. The frequency and duration of the therapy depend on the patient's needs.
In addition to this private practice, I work in a center providing care for people who have had legal troubles and for difficult adolescents.
I obtained my master's degree in psychology in 2003 and completed with distinction a complementary master's in psychotherapy at the Catholic University of Louvain in June 2012.
I mainly work with the following issues:
  • Relational and emotional difficulties;
  • Anxiety and depressive disorders;
