Presentation
Hello, my name is Violeta Esteban. Spanish by origin, I moved to Brussels in April 2012. I speak French, English and Spanish fluently. I studied Psychology in Seville, followed by a Master's degree in Psychological Intervention in Justice, Health and Well-being at the University of Cordoba (Spain), which I completed with the highest distinction. I have mainly developed my training in Clinical Psychology by working with different groups (people with gambling addiction, women, elderly people or couples).
My passion for psychology comes from my interest in human beings, their developmental processes, and the way their relationship with context determines their strategies for coping with change. Sometimes we are influenced by social prejudices when we look for a psychologist, but we forget that seeking help when we have to face new situations helps us discover and strengthen our internal resources in order to succeed in having a more positive and healthier view of reality.
My therapy is based on Positive Psychology, founded on the belief that people want to lead a rewarding and fulfilling life, cultivating the best in themselves. However, I am also systemic in orientation, which considers that personal problems arise and persist through interactions between a person and their environment (family, friends, work team, etc.).
Systemic psychotherapy therefore addresses an individual’s interactions with a given environment, rather than the specific characteristics of one or the other. Attentive to developments in psychology and the constant evolution of therapeutic practices, I continue my training on a daily basis through reading, conferences, seminars, and continuing education in order to provide high-quality care adapted to each person’s situation.
As a complement, I engage in professional collaborations with non-profit organizations for social projects, giving classes and lectures.
