Maddalena Fanti - Psychopractitioner : Psychosomatic therapy, EMTE, Therapeutic hypnosis, Clinical EFT
My background
I have always been fascinated by how the brain works and by the powers of our mind. Before putting them at the heart of my professional practice, I worked for a long time in Human Resources Management in the corporate world. In my position, it was very difficult to establish a person-to-person relationship. I wanted to step outside the usual framework and make people feel that I was there for them.
I went back to school and trained in various therapeutic approaches, most of them with a psycho-somatic orientation. This term, which comes from the Greek words “psyché” (soul, mind) and “soma” (body), creates a link between emotional and physical pain. The body, like the mind, absorbs our sensations, memories, and traumas and reacts in a physical way. By exploring the root causes of physical pain and illness in a holistic way, we can address and release buried trauma.
My specializations
EMTE
EMTE psycho-corporeal therapy combines Massage, Energy Therapy, and psychological and spiritual support. This approach addresses the different dimensions of our being — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. The aim of the massage is to release physical tension and the emotional blocks connected to it. The energy work seeks to harmonize the energy centers. The psychological support combines different approaches: systemic therapy, humanistic psychotherapy, Wilhelm Reich’s approach, and Jungian psychoanalysis. The spiritual work is carried out mainly through mindfulness.
My training: ATMARM School-Brussels
Therapeutic Hypnosis
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness which — through the activation of certain brain regions and the reduction of activity in other areas — creates an inner bubble and a focused attention on internal sensations. Within this bubble, with the help of hypnotic protections, we can work on traumas and desensitize painful content and memories. By “reliving” them in a safe setting, we are able to “digest” them and put an end to a process that is poisoning our existence.
My training:
Clinical EFT
Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a method of managing emotions that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapies and acupuncture. It involves stimulating certain energy points on the body (acupuncture meridians) while focusing on the issue to be addressed (psychology). By stimulating acupressure points, a signal of relaxation is sent to the brain and body, which brings calm and desensitizes traumatic memory. Ideal for managing stress and strong emotions, Clinical EFT is also effective in supporting people who have experienced severe trauma and in treating older and more deep-rooted issues.
My trainings:
Master Practitioner in Clinical EFT and Energy Psychology at IFPEC (Francophone Institute of Emotional and Cognitive Psychotherapy). There, I am continuing a training program that includes the latest discoveries such as Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, REM (Memory Reconsolidation), and the basics of IFS (Internal Family Systems).
My office
I opened my practice in Uccle in 2013. While my tools and techniques are support that I use according to your issues and your goals, building a therapeutic relationship with you is at the heart of my practice. As a therapist, I help you discover the solutions that lie within you. My approach as a psychotherapist is also nourished by my personal experience. That is how I “discovered” the therapeutic power of meditation, about twenty years ago, after a significant bereavement. I can help you train your mind and your heart to achieve inner stability.
For Whom? For What?
Particularly attuned to certain issues that resonate with my personal experience, my caring and nonjudgmental approach supports you in the following situations:
I work with adults and teenagers. Sessions take place either at the office or by videoconference (Skype, Zoom, ..). My sessions are held in French, English, and Italian.
